Garre's osteomyelitis is characterized by a thickening of the periosteum with a
deposition of osteoid tissue and new cortical bone(cortical layering), usually in response
to an mild infection.
The patient, 9-year-old girl, with the chief complaint of swelling on the right side of
the face, in the inferior to the nonpainful angle of the mandible.
Clinically, there were no symptom and no tenderness to palpation.
Radiographically, periapical film was seen right first molar with deep carious lesion and
periapical radiolucency, and occlusal film was seen typical onion - like appearance.
In the past, there has been common tendency that treatment of Garre's osteomyelitis is
usually extraction with antibiotic treatment or surgery under general anesthesia. but, the
aims of this literature is to treat Garre's Osteomyelitis is by endodontic treatment
sucessfully and to restore original contour of periosteum.
In the future, more long-standing follow-up check is needed whether result of
endodontics treatment is performed sucessfully.
